Overview
Bismark Enyan born on July 13th, 1993, known by his stage name Abochi, is Ghanaian Afro-Highlife artiste and producer. Abochi is one of the most successful Afro-Highlife artiste in the Ghanaian music industry. He is known for his good song writing skills, consistent delivery, production, contemporary highlife style that combines English and Ghanaian indigenous languages. Abochi’s breakthrough was 2019 when his hit song “Bestie” appeared on the Ghanaian and East African music charts. Abochi is considered a contemporary Afro-Highlife artiste, as his songs venture new grounds in the Ghanaian music mixing Afrobeat and Highlife sounds.
Early Life
Abochi was born on July 13th, 1993 in Winneba in the central region of Ghana and grew up in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. As a child he attended Veritas international school and continued with his tertiary education at Boso Senior High School, where he became the senior prefect.
Abochi says he had great passion for music when growing up but did not pursue it as a career until his junior high school headmaster encouraged him to reconsider and explore his talent by performing songs from sarkodie and other international artistes with his friends at school events and other outdoor programs.
Music career
Abochi recorded his first song with Ghanaian music star Okyeame Kwame in 2017. HIs first major song, bringing him into the national spotlight, was “Bestie”, after being signed to Lifeline Records; a Ghanaian owned record company. “Bestie” got him numerous nominations in 2020 with the likes’ of Vodafone Music awards (Unsung Artist of the year), Ghana music awards USA ( New Artiste of the year), Global music awards ( African spotlight of the year), Greater Accra music awards (Male vocalist of the year) , EMA ( Male vocalist of the year, Songwriter of the year, Highlife artiste of the year, Most popular song of the year, Emerging artiste of the year), and Social media awards ( New artiste of the year).
In 2020, Abochi came out with a new song; “Prison Break” which became a national anthem for both married and single people across Ghana and beyond due to the message portrayed. As most people would say,the tune just heals the broken heart and gives hope to people who have had bad experiences in their relationship.
In 2021, Abochi collaborated with Fameye on the song “ Hallele”. With this single, he themed it to be a thanksgiving song, reminiscing about life situations and how far God has brought him.
He is described by Okyeame Kwame as one of the greatest Afro-Highlife artiste to emerge from Ghana and to put Ghana on the international market as far as Highlife is concerned. And with his unique production and writing skills, his music is being enjoyed by both parents and their children as they see it to be friendly music based on the content and delivery.
Abochi is set to release his first album ending of 2021 featuring some great ghanaian and international artistes.
Humanitarian work
Abochi engage on issues concerning environmental health and domestic violence against women. In August 2018 he joined other artistes, advocating for a clean environment, mentioning that it was the best prevention against diseases such as malaria and cholera.
He is set launch his own dabbed project on violence against women and children.
